Beginning in Summer Quarter 2016, Seattle University implemented a new program model for Education Abroad. Its purpose is to enable a greater number of undergraduate students to access their SU institutional scholarships and grants among a greater variety of education abroad opportunities. Previously, our model offered six SU Sponsored programs, for which approximately 15 students could apply their SU institutional aid. The new model increases the number of qualifying programs to 75 semester-length or academic year programs to allow more student participation. The additional programs are in partnership with affiliated organizations that have been vetted for their academics and student support, and have been in long standing partnerships with Seattle University.
Seattle University receives no payment from affiliated program sponsors for enrolling students in their programs. Our affiliated program sponsors have been selected because of their demonstrated academic excellence and student support. Depending on the program, students may be charged a program fee. Travel and associated costs may be shared by both SU and the affiliate sponsor when SU faculty and staff conduct site visits for assessment of risk management, academic programs, and other activities.
*Details of the program model are subject to revision.
