Program Summary
Italy is among the seven most industrialized nations in the world and is the second-largest manufacturing country in Europe. Italy's economy encompasses almost every type of industry and is particularly known for precision machinery, metal, cars, electronics, and fashion products. Italy is a main player in the world's agricultural products, exporting large quantities of wine, olive oil, wheat, milk, fruit and vegetables. Much of Italy's economy is based around 3 million-plus small to medium-sized enterprises. Many are still family owned! Companies visits include: Busatti, Aboca, Perugina, Deruta, Cose di Lana and others. Sansepolcro is just 20 miles from Arezzo in the region of Tuscany. Cortona, Anghiari, Multipulciano, and Montevarchi are all in easy reach. In the two weeks before the second Sunday of September, Sansepolcro hosts The Palio Festival transforms to celebrate fascinating cultural and spectacular initiatives involving all the historical associations of the city. Music performances, dances, feasts, parades and events capture the enthusiasm of residents and thousands of tourists. If you have seen the movie, “Under the Tuscan Sun,” then you know the flag throwers of Sansepolcro (Sbandieratori Di Sansepolcro) who we will have the honor of seeing in-person their colorful performances.
