Immunizations

Required Vaccinations

Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR):

Seattle University requires all students enrolled in undergraduate courses to provide documentation that they have had two doses of Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR).

Recommended Vaccinations

In addition to the MMR vaccine, it is strongly recommended that you complete the usual childhood vaccine series and consider the Meningococcal vaccine. Immunization experts have issued a new vaccination recommendation for meningococcal disease stating that all first-year students living in residence halls should be immunized against meningococcal disease, a rare, but potentially fatal, bacterial infection commonly referred to as meningitis.

Seattle University, however, at this time does not require the Meningococcal vaccine. The Student Health Center, like other primary care clinics, offers all of the required vaccines.

Covid Vaccine:

As of July 1, 2023, Seattle University will no longer require all students, faculty and staff to show documentation of their COVID-19 vaccinations. However, from July 1, 2023 on, the university strongly encourages all members of the campus community to stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines and therefore get vaccinated against COVID-19 and receive any recommended booster dose(s) when eligible to do so. Visit CDC for more information.

You must submit proof of required immunizations to the Student Health Center prior to your arrival on campus or attending classes. We will accept photocopies of official immunization records from your healthcare provider’s office or records from your high school. If you do not have vaccine records, you may take the attached form to your healthcare provider’s office to be completed and signed.  You may submit your records via fax, email, mail, or drop them by our office. If you choose to send your records electronically (fax or email), you do not need to submit additional hard copies. Please include your name, student ID, and date of birth on any records that you submit.  You may also submit your immunizations using the Online Student Health Immunization Form.

To prevent delays, please do not call/email to confirm receipt of immunization records. We will follow up with you if your records are incomplete. It is also important to make sure your records are legible, as they will not be accepted if the dates are not clear.

The Student Health Center provides all the standard vaccines at cost, but we encourage you to obtain them before your arrival on campus. Private and the university-sponsored insurance typically will cover the costs of vaccinations if you should need them.

For questions or assistance, please contact the Student Health Center.
