Biography

Dr. Larry Hubbell was hired in July 2014 as the new director of IPS.  He previously served as a faculty member at the University of Wyoming for 25 years.  As a Fulbright scholar, Larry taught in Lithuania and Sierra Leone.  In addition, he taught, consulted and conducted research in Cambodia, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, England, Italy, Dominica and Panama.  He has published 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as a  novel called “Almost Dysfunctional.”  Larry worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and ACTION, the agency which formerly administered Peace Corps and VISTA.  Larry and his wife also owned and managed a country inn in New Hampshire, where on occasion he performed rock and roll as part of his band “Leapin’ Larry and the Homewreckers.”

His primary research interests are higher education administration, problems facing emerging democracies, and organization development.

Larry teaches the PUBM 590 Capstone in Public Service course.
