Seattle University's Ethics Bowl team won the Northwest Regional Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl on November 16. The win earned the team a bid to the national competition, which takes place at the end of February in Atlanta, for a third year in a row. A second team from Seattle University placed third in the competition.

In order to advance, Seattle University defeated Washington State University, Whitman College, Gonzaga University, University of Oregon, and others, including last year's national champion, Whitworth University.

Students who compete in Ethics Bowl spend months studying public policy controversies and then use political and moral philosophy to answer questions about these cases in front of a panel of judges. This year's cases included student loan forgiveness, regulating online hate speech, and the use of open source software in medical devices.
