A one-day symposium: "Mind and Body: Gloria Anzaldúa, Xicanísima and Beyond", February 22, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., features Seattle University alumni, students, professors, and internationally renowned poets, writers, and academics addressing the "Other" within LGBTQ+, Latinx, and migrant communities.

The symposium is led by Gabriella Gutiérrez y Muhs, PhD, 2018-20 Theiline McCone-Pigott Chair in Humanities and Professor of Modern Languages and Cultures and Women and Gender Studies. The event is co-sponsored by Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies and the SU Law School.

Renowned speakers include Norma Cantú, Martina Giselle Ramírez, Jodi O'Brien, Shari Dworkin, Jeanette Rodríguez, Nalini Iyer, Christina Herrera, Randa Tawil, Steven Bender, Juan Velasco, and many others.
