There are many resources that can help you before and during your registration period.
When can I register for classes? Registration for a future quarter begins around Week 6 or 7 of the current quarter for continuing SU students. Check the SU Academic Calendar to see when specific registration periods begin. You will be assigned a registration time based on the number of credits you've earned. You can begin registering for classes online from that assigned registration time.
How do I find my registration time? Approximately two weeks before the registration period begins, the Registrar will notify you via SU email that your registration time has been posted online. To see your registration time, go to the MySeattleU Student Planning section and then Plan & Schedule. Tab forward to the following quarter. Your registration date and time will be posted in a blue bar at the top of that quarter (all times posted are in Pacific Standard Time). Be sure to set a reminder for yourself to register as close to this time as possible to ensure the best choices of classes.
How does my registration time work? Your registration time is the earliest possible time when you can register for classes. Once your registration time has started, login to MySeattleU Student Planning and Plan & Schedule. Add courses to your plan and click the "Accept Terms & Register" buttons. You can continue to make changes to your schedule (add or drop classes) through the end of Week 1 of that quarter.
Why can't I register for classes? You may have a registration hold (see below), or you may need to submit a course plan online to your advisor. If you are a new student, you should meet with your advisor before registration and then submit a course plan on MySeattleU Student Planning. Add courses that you plan to take in the coming quarter, go to the "Enable Registration" tab and click the "Submit Plan to Advisor" button. Once your advisor approves this plan, you will receive an email notification and can begin registering after your assigned registration time.
Why do I have a registration hold? If you have any outstanding university obligations that you haven't met, an office may restrict your registration by placing a hold on your account. For example, if you have not submitted required health documents, completed the Think About It course online, or have any outstanding balances due, you will be unable to register until you have resolved the issue. See below for a list of common holds and how to resolve them.
How do I know if I have a registration hold? Login to MySeattleU Student Planning. If you have a hold, you will see a large red notification at the top of your screen. Click on the notification to see what kind of hold is in place. In order to remove the hold, contact the office that placed the hold and resolve the pending issue. If you're not sure how to resolve the issue, contact your advisor for assistance.
Common registration holds and how to resolve them:
NOTE: Offices cannot remove holds that have been placed by other offices. Only the issuing office can remove the hold.
What if the class I want is closed? If a class is closed online, you may be able to get on the waitlist or be added to the class later. Register for another open class in the meantime, and then contact the department or program of the closed class to inquire about a waitlist. For more information on closed classes, check out this document, Closed Class Procedure, or contact the Arts and Sciences Advising Center.
