Upon graduation, you will also be prepared to apply for international fellowships, graduate and professional school, and fulfilling volunteer opportunities. International Studies alums are pursuing advanced degrees at the following universities:
The International Studies program's holistic curriculum was invaluable in being able to succeed in an international affairs graduate program. Although I tended to focus largely on global business and economics both at Seattle University and at Georgetown, being able to navigate and fit various economic policy options into different historical, social, cultural, and political contexts has been a key to success, not only in a graduate program, but also in a successful career.
As a result of the INST capstone and language requirements, I was able to explore my interest in China-Latin American relations and develop my Spanish and Mandarin language skills, both of which have laid the foundation for my research in graduate school and chosen career path. Through the guidance of INST professors at SU, I also developed my ability to think critically and creatively on social, economic and political issues faced by a multitude of countries.
While in the INST program, I learned how to critically think about the world around me and translate my thoughts into a well ordered paper or argument. These writing and analytical skills have laid a strong foundation that has been extremely helpful in my time as a law student.
"I learned to respectfully relate with people from other cultures, while adapting to their social norms." Ruth Yohannes '19
