Brittany Heintz Walters, PhD

Biography

Dr. Brittany Heintz Walters received her PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee before her current role as an Assistant Professor of Neuromechanics and Motor Control in the Department of Kinesiology at Seattle University. Her research focuses on understanding neuromuscular changes associated with movement impairments in healthy older adults and in those with movement disorders, with an emphasis on the visuomotor system and attentional processes. Dr. Heintz Walters uses techniques such as EMG and eye tracking technologies to understand mechanisms underlying the control of movement. The overarching goal of her research is to mitigate movement impairments and increase functional independence in older adults and patient populations.
