MAP alumni can support young professionals in their education and careers by becoming a mentor. You will be paired with a current MAP student for conversation, support, and advice on navigating graduate school or with a recent graduate joining the profession. Students and new alumni have consistently expressed interest in hearing from program alumni about their experiences as graduate students and applying their MAP education after graduation, be it as a therapist or in some other role. The mentor relationship is confidential.
Students and recent graduates interested in a mentor will review the mentors list (contact information excluded) and, in consultation with their advisor or program director, will determine the best match. The program will first discuss with mentors their availability and then provide mentors with information to contact the student/graduate directly. We ask that mentors confirm with us when contact is made so we can keep track of mentors and to ensure we do not overload any one alumnus.
Once the mentor/mentee relationship is created, MAP steps out of the loop and your mentorship remains confidential. We will ask the mentor to let us know when the mentee relationship concludes and we will ask for your feedback on the program annually.
This important program would not have become a reality without the very generous support of our MAP alumni. Students/graduates sincerely appreciate the insights and support of our alumni. Thank you!
