Biography & Teaching and Research Interests
Dr. Kathleen Pape teaches Therapeutic Communications and Reproductive Mental Health Care in the graduate MAP program. Her scholarly interests and areas of research include psychodynamic psychotherapy, feminist psychology, maternal theory and perinatal mood disorders, sociocultural interpretations of human experience, and the interpersonal origins of ethics. She is the Seattle University Faculty Ambassador in Psychology for the Cura Psychologia Project, which aims to broaden the discipline of psychology at Jesuit universities to include interdisciplinary exchanges within the humanities. Her publications include Emerging into a World of Understanding: A Hermeneutic Exploration of Perinatal Mood Disorders and Clinical Practice and The Face of the Other in Motherhood. As a licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Pape maintains a full-time private practice working with individuals and couples.
