Scholarships

SU Graduate Scholarships

All admitted applicants are considered for Seattle University Graduate Scholarships based upon a holistic review of all information received in the application process and available funding. Awards are renewable for multi-year programs based upon satisfactory progress toward degree completion. Scholarship amounts are based upon full-time enrollment of minimally 6 quarter credits per term. Students taking less than 6 quarter credits will have their award amount pro-rated accordingly.

Endowed scholarship consideration may require additional documents and recipients may be notified after admission depending upon the selection criteria. Domestic and permanent resident applicants are strongly encouraged to complete a FAFSA to be eligible for any need-based endowed or external scholarships and/or graduate student loans.

Descriptions and Guidelines

Two types of scholarships awarded to select MAP candidates.

MAP Scholarship

The MAP Scholarship is a yearly, renewable award given to selected incoming and current students who demonstrate financial need, strong program fit, and evidence of working with; or an interest in working with underserved or marginalized groups. No separate application is necessary. Recipients receive approximately $2,500 per academic year, for two years, if they remain in good academic standing in the program.

Minimum Requirements

The MAP scholarship awarded students must complete 12 credit hours minimum per year.  Funds are distributed equally across academic quarters with the option of using a summer quarter as one of the quarters.

Selection Criteria and Selection

The MAP scholarship is based on financial need demonstrated through FAFSA scores and the admissions process. Weight is given to strength of fit with program and evidence of working with or interest in working with underserved and marginalized groups such as homeless individuals, sexual minorities, multicultural families, refugees, and women with children recovering from domestic violence.  For international students who are unable to submit a FAFSA, contact the department for details.
