This Thanksgiving, consider donating your time or goods to local organizations and communities in the Seattle area.
For members of the Seattle University community, please consider donating to the Duwamish Tribe, on whose homelands Seattle University exists. The Duwamish Tribe has yet to be justly compensated for their land, resources, and livelihood, and you may stand in solidarity with the Duwamish Tribe by supporting the causes below.
- Donate to the Duwamish Tribe to support the Longhouse and Cultural Center.
- Pay a regular donation to Real Rent Duwamish, a grassroots organization supporting the Duwamish Tribe.
- Sign a petition to support Federal Recognition of the Duwamish Tribe. On May 11, 2022, the Duwamish Tribe filed a lawsuit against the Department of the Interior in the U.S. District Court for Western District of Washington State to secure its tribal sovereignty. Learn more about the lawsuit here.
All donations to Duwamish Tribal Services, as a 5013c non-profit organization, are tax-deductable.
