SU campus in the fall

It is finally fall and students are back on campus at Seattle University. Being on campus can be confusing, especially if you are new to the school. I have compiled a list of things that may be helpful to a newcomer or students who haven’t had a chance to explore the area yet.

Commuter Room

If you need a space to eat lunch, study, hang out, or print things between classes the McGoldrick Collegium will be your favorite space. This room has a kitchenette, computers, printers, and an outdoor patio. It is specifically for graduate students and adult learners 25 years and older.

Best Fries

Comfort food is all the rage when you’re a stressed-out graduate student. Personally, my go-to is fries and luckily there are some great fries near campus. The Chieftain Irish Pub & Restaurant has the crispiest fries and an outdoor patio with games. Coming in second place for best fries is Byrek and Baguette, but they also have a large menu with so many great options for lunch.

Study Spots

The library is an obvious choice if you are looking for a quiet place to study— the higher the floor the quieter it will be. If you don’t mind noise while you work, Pigott Auditorium has tables on almost every floor allowing for some good study space. Lastly, the first floor of the Casey Building is usually very quiet and has great windows.

Library

Along with being a great study spot, the library has many different resources like the writing center, technology loans, and a café called The Byte. Last but not least, the librarians are so helpful with learning how to do research and the best ways to navigate the databases Seattle University offers!

Parking

Finding cheap parking off campus is possible but it usually has a time limit of around 2 hours max. If you are only going to be on campus one or two times a week it may be helpful to buy a day pass through the school. Day parking passes are $7.50 per day which is a steep discount from the $17 you will pay if you buy a pass in the garage.

Graduate Resources

Finally, check out the graduate student resources hub for more information on things like student clubs, academic resources, and career assistance.
