Giving Back

I endowed the Lawrence K. Johnson Chair of Entrepreneurship in my father's name as a testament to the faith I have in the Albers School of Business and Economics producing young entrepreneurs who will make a difference.

Have an Impact

What can you do to affect positive change in today's turbulent times? Making an annual gift to Albers directly impacts the quality Jesuit Catholic education Albers delivers to students and is an investment in the next generation of ethical business leaders for a just and humane world.

I was transformed into the man I am. Seattle U was a miracle in my life.

Deacon Mike Daniels, BA, Business Administration 1970

Your gift could help launch a career like that of Albers alumnus Reuben Butler, (’00 Finance) Managing Director of Corporate Development for investment management firm Parametric. Butler, who received a scholarship himself while studying at SU, says he continues to lean on his education, particularly the messages he was taught around the human component of a career. ‘The faculty stressed the importance of working with people and getting along with others, and they modeled it every day,’ he says. ‘I carry that forward in my work life and it has served me well.’

Your gift can help students gain global perspective. In today’s integrated global economy, business executives of multinational corporations are required to have a flexible global mindset in order to cope with the driving forces of globalization. Albers offers a number of ways for our students to gain this global knowledge, including short and long-term study abroad opportunities and exchange programs. Scholarships for these opportunities are critical to enable more students to incorporate them into their Albers educational experience.

It is an extreme honor to receive this scholarship, I can't wait to further my education in Albers. I could not be more thankful for this opportunity; it will not be taken for granted.

Ben de la Cruz, current Albers student (’23)

Each year our highly experienced faculty work hard to educate students in the tradition of competence, conscience, and compassion. From Marc Cohen’s immersive classroom work on trust, business ethics and social contract theory, to Jeffery Smith who bridges the community and classroom by bringing in local leaders to discuss ethics, or Dean Peterson’s revision of the business and economics curriculum to draw out what he sees to be the ethical assumptions standing behind the study of economics.

This mix of technical acumen, experience, service, and ethics that are the hallmarks of an Albers business education cannot be funded by tuition alone. Your gifts to Albers support our faculty and the co-curricular programs they deliver to our students, provide meaningful scholarship funds to allow our students to embark on all that an SU degree offers, and are a catalyst for positive change in our community.

This scholarship means so much to me. Your constant commitment and support of youth is awe-inspiring and truthfully teaches me what a morally centered life in the business world can do.
