Here are some quick answers to the most common questions asked about Executive Education programs.
Yes. The schedule for the Leadership Executive MBA (LEMBA) and the Executive Leadership Certificate (ELP) programs was designed with busy professionals in mind. Classes meet in convenient two-day modules, usually on a Friday-Saturday on the Seattle University campus. Outside of the classroom, student teams determine their own schedules.
Similar to other master's level programs, students should expect to spend on average 15-20 hours per week on school-related work.
Candidates can apply at any time but our deadlines and decision dates are as follows:
Following the final application deadline, applications will be accepted and reviewed for admission until July 15, space permitting.
No, although we strongly recommend scheduling a meeting with the recruiter before beginning an application to ensure the program meets your professional and educational goals. Applicants that have submitted an application but haven't yet met with the recruiter will be invited to do so before the application deadline.
The Admissions Committee evaluates each application and makes decisions based on a candidate’s entire portfolio including work experience, past academic performance, recommendations, and a statement of intent. In addition, because the cohort model of this program requires significant group work, the committee looks for evidence of effective participation in team environments. Check the Executive Leadership Certificate program requirements and Leadership Executive MBA program requirements for more details.
Seattle University’s Executive Education programs are small by design to provide an intimate and highly participative learning environment. We accept a maximum of 36 students each year and of those, approximately 12 are certificate-only students while 24 are LEMBA students.
The Executive Leadership Certificate program is seven months/two academic quarters (August through March) and the Leadership Executive MBA program is 22 months/six quarters (two academic years). Executive Education programs begin once a year in late August.
Yes. Evidence (degree-posted transcript or degree certificate) of a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution or U.S. equivalent is required for admission. A few outstanding applicants without undergraduate degrees may be considered each year on an individual basis at the discretion of the dean.
Applicants that have not earned an undergraduate degree may apply at any time but decisions regarding admission for these applicants are typically made following the second application deadline March 1 and third application deadline May 15. Potential applicants without an undergraduate degree are encouraged to consult with the Executive Education Associate Director prior to applying.
No. All students accepted to the LEMBA program will successfully complete an online prep course post-admission and prior to the beginning of the program.
No. The curriculum is set and with our cohort model, students move through the program in lockstep.
Yes, ELP students may move to the LEMBA program but must successfully complete the online prep course required of all LEMBA students.
The cost for Executive Education programs is $17,000* per quarter and is billed in quarterly installments. This cost includes tuition, fees, textbooks and course materials, meals, and lodging at residential sessions, continental breakfasts and lunches on class days, and food and refreshments at various hosted events. On-campus parking and graduation regalia are not included in tuition.
* Actual tuition may vary. Annual tuition is set each spring by the University's Board of Trustees.
