About Resident Ministry
Resident Ministry is a collaborative offering shared by the Departments of Campus Ministry and Housing and Residence Life. Resident Ministers reside in each of the four traditional residence halls on campus and provide an additional layer of support for all campus residents. Each Resident Minister brings their own personality and style of care to their role. Some of the ways you might interact with your Resident Minister include...
- attending a hall program planned by your Resident Minister (past programs include pizza feeds, yoga, prayer and meditation services, and chili dinners, to name a few)
- scheduling a time to have a one-on-one conversation with your Resident Minister
- running into your Resident Minister around your residence hall - it's home to both of you!
One-on-One Conversation
Resident Ministers are available for one-on-one conversations with students seeking support and companionship on their journeys at SU. You don't have to be Catholic to meet with a Resident Minister, and you don't have to talk about faith or spirituality unless you want to. Issues students bring to Resident Ministers include but are not limited to transition to college or other life adjustments; grief and loss; life direction and purpose; academic stress; social and relational issues; identity and belonging; and spiritual and religious questions and practices. Resident Ministers are also confidential resources for students who have experienced sexual assault. For more information on on-campus resources for survivors of sexual assault, including a list of confidential resources, visit the Dean of Students' page on sexual misconduct.
