While CAPS remains the primary emotional and mental health service for students at Seattle Univeristy, TimelyCare provides a supplement to our existing on-campus health and wellness services with no out-of-pocket cost or insurance requirement.

CAPS therapists are employees of Seattle University and are licensed by the Washington State Department of Health to provide psychotherapy services to individuals located within Washington state. CAPS offers short-term counseling as the primary mental health service available for students at Seattle U. CAPS also offers referrals to long-term therapists, local or otherwise.
TimelyCare is a nationwide telehealth service that Seattle U has partnered with in order to expand student access to 24/7 virtual medical and mental healthcare from anywhere in the United States. TimelyCare doctors, nurses, and counselors are employees of TimelyCare.
Yes! Both Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and the Student Health Center remain the primary mental and physical health resources on campus and will maintain their current level of clinical hours.

No. It is generally not recommended to work with two therapists simultaneously, so if you are actively working with a CAPS therapist we would not recommend that you simultaneously schedule on-going counseling with a TimelyCare therapist, or vice versa.
However, you are welcome to utilize the TalkNow service between visits if you need immediate support, as well as all TimelyCare medical services.

Any enrolled Seattle U student can use TimelyCare. Students can go to timelycare.com/seattleu to register with their name and Seattle U email address. Students can then have visits from any web-enabled device - smartphone, laptop, or desktop. TimelyCare is available from anywhere in the U.S.
You will need to fill in some information and create a profile on TimelyCare before being able to access their services including TalkNow. After creating a profile the wait time to connect with a provider through TalkNow is 3-7 minutes.
For scheduled counseling services you will have access to a calendar of availability and can select an option that works for you.
No, all TimelyCare and TalkNow appointments are scheduled through the TimelyCare app.

For international students and students studying abroad, you have access to all services while you are in the United States. When you are outside the United States, you have access to TalkNow, an unlimited 24/7, on-demand triage mental health support, coaching service, and crisis management provided by behavioral and health professionals

TimelyCare is funded through the student wellness fee. TimelyCare does not take private insurance. Services provided through TimelyCare have no copay or coinsurance and are at no additional cost to students. The student wellness fee covers all costs.
