Updates for Fall 2020

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! This will be a year of stretching our skills and creativity in a whole new way to provide services to students. We know how talented the educational workforce is in our state, and we are excited to support you in your endeavors. Distance Learning

  • For educators and families, we’ve added a Distance Learning Resources Google Doc to our Resources page with a variety of links related to transition activities.
  • This list includes supports for families, curricula suggestions, age-appropriate assessments, career exploration, job shadowing options, post-secondary education information, independent living, budgeting, and recreation and leisure resources. 

Post-School Survey

The Post-School Survey for 2018-19 leavers is open through November 1. Schools must verify their leaver list before making survey phone calls.

Transition Foundations: Asynchronous Online Training

Transition training materials are available in self-paced, online formats. Each training includes a workbook and a series of PowerPoint modules that can be reviewed individually or with a group (recommended).

Intro to Developing Job Shadow Experiences

September 16, 2020; 3-4 p.m. PDT

  • Join CCTS for an introduction to the new self-paced training which focuses on the essential components for developing meaningful job shadow experiences.
  • This webinar will include an overview of the new seven-module series and the state’s Worksite Learning Manual.

IPP Third Thursday: Finding Your CTE Data

September 17, 2020; 3-4 p.m. PDT

  • This informal discussion is intended to provide participants with ideas about accessing and examining district-level data related to their CTE and existing inclusionary practices.
  • Third Thursday conversations are part of the CCTS Inclusionary Practices Project. CTE staff, special education staff, district leaders, and anyone interested in increasing inclusionary practices in schools are encouraged to attend.

IPP Voices from the Field: CTE and Special Education Partnerships

October 8, 2020; 3-4:30 p.m. PDT

  • Learn from a panel of practitioners who will share about their journey towards becoming a more inclusive school and/or district.
  • Topics of conversation will include co-teaching and co-planning, best practices for collaboration, inclusion in CTE, systems- and process- thinking, and more.
  • This seminar is offered as part of the CCTS Inclusionary Practices Project. CTE staff, special education staff, district leaders, and anyone interested in increasing inclusionary practices in schools are encouraged to attend.

IPP Third Thursday: Middle School CTE

October 15, 2020; 3-4 p.m. PDT

  • This informal discussion will focus on developing and enhancing middle school CTE programs and feature several voices from the field to share their journey and advice.
  • Third Thursday conversations are part of the CCTS Inclusionary Practices Project. CTE staff, special education staff, district leaders, and anyone interested in increasing inclusionary practices in schools are encouraged to attend.

Writing Effective Transition Plans, Parts 1 & 2

October 20 & 21, 2020; 3-5 p.m. PDT

  • This synchronous two-part training condenses CCTS’s self-paced Writing Effective Transition Plans (WETP) modules into two 2-hour sessions. These webinars are designed to help participants identify the essential components of transition planning.
  • Part 1: Explore and identify online assessments and related resources to support student-centered transition development.
  • Part 2: Identify transition practices to build meaningful transition plans while maximizing student participation.

Understanding the Components of IEPs

November 12, 2020; 3-4:30 p.m. PDT

  • Join CCTS for an overview of the essential components of the IEP as they relate to the implementation of inclusionary practices in the general education.
  • This information is designed to assist teachers in understanding their role in the IEP and the delivery of instruction and accommodations.
  • This online workshop is part of the CCTS Inclusionary Practices Project. Teams of special education and CTE instructors are encouraged to attend together.

IPP Third Thursday: Inclusion and Remote Learning

November 19, 2020; Time 3-4 p.m. PDT

  • Remote learning has become the reality for most educators in Washington state. What does inclusion look like in an online environment? And what strategies and practices are working to increase inclusion?
  • Join us for an informal conversation to share your methods and learn from the best practices of other educators.
  • Third Thursday conversations are part of the CCTS Inclusionary Practices Project. CTE staff, special education staff, district leaders, and anyone interested in increasing inclusionary practices in schools are encouraged to attend.

Student-Led IEPs, Parts 1 & 2

December 1 & 2, 3-5 p.m. PDT

  • This synchronous two-part training condenses CCTS’s self-paced Student-Led IEP (SLIEP) modules into two 2-hour sessions. These webinars are designed for participants to explore the benefits of student-led IEPs.
  • Part 1: Discuss student engagement levels, describe steps for developing student self-determination, and identify supporting instructional materials that can integrate with existing curriculum.
  • Part 2: Identify IEP participation formats that increase self-advocacy and self-determination.

CCTS Transition Network

  • CCTS invites all Washington educators, administrators, and agency representatives to join us on Basecamp, an online communication platform.
  • Join the CCTS Transition Network on Basecamp to share your thoughts, questions, ideas, and recommendations related to transition.
