Welcome to spring!
As we wander out of the confines of the winter and the pandemic, we have some work to do!
It is time to review our accomplishments and challenges and determine how we can improve our practices to better meet the needs of our students, families, colleagues, and communities. Much has happened over the past 12 months, and this has resulted in a call for change.
Our eyes have been opened to the inequity of our systems. We have learned the importance of essential workers and how they support the health and welfare of our communities. We have discovered that our mental health and well-being are more fragile than we thought. We have experienced heartache and loss and learned to adapt and persevere. We have tried new technology and discovered how it can be used effectively, and how we view our interactions differently through the screen. And so much more!
With our shared experiences, new knowledge, new perspectives, and opportunities to reflect, we can use the spring to make plans and projects that will positively impact the lives of the youth with whom we work. Use your new learning to contemplate changes that you can make. Recognize that the workplace is changing, and the work we do in schools needs to keep up with the changes. Explore new ways to create opportunities for your students, and embrace the change!
Best,
The CCTS team

DVR/ESD Aligning IEP and HSBP
May 4, 2021, 3-5 p.m. PT
The High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) is a graduation requirement for every student in Washington state. It's a process for students, parents, and teachers to guide students through high school and think about their future. Plans are personalized and designed to help students set, visualize, and work to achieve goals.
The IEP has a similar component in the transition plan that has postsecondary goals and transition services to provide the student with skills necessary to reach those goals.
In this DVR-sponsored workshop, the alignment of the HSBP and IEP will be discussed with the focus on best practices.
Due to funding, participation is limited to Washington state DVR and school district staff only.
