ACTE Distance Learning Resources 

  • The Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE) strives to empower educators to deliver high quality CTE programs that ensure all students are positioned for career success. 
  • They have compiled a list of online resources for career development, employability skill development, project management, industry engagement and other topics that can be integrated into any CTE subject area.

Ag Explorer

  • National Future Farmers of America and Discovery Education have joined forces to create a robust, comprehensive career resource to help you explore the broad range of careers within the industry of agriculture.
  • The site has  a Career Finder section, Virtual Field Trips, and Teacher Resources.

American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD): Workplace & Employment

  • Cross-disability organization that promotes equal opportunity, economic power, independent living, and political participation for people with disabilities.
  • Their Workplace & Employment page provides a variety of resources.

Easter Seals: Employment and Training 

  • Easter Seals provides services and support for individuals with disabilities and offers a variety of employment resources.

  • Created by WINTAC, Employment Resources, Inc. (ERI), the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Wisconsin-Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute (SVRI).
  • This training will help students: discover talents and jobs that may be a good fit; get experience and try out jobs right now!; uncover education and training options to help students meet their job goals; learn about self-advocacy or how to ask for and get things that the student needs; and get skills to help succeed at work and school. 
  • This  series of web-based modules align with the five required WIOA Pre-Employment Transition Services 

Job Accommodation Network 

  • The Job accommodation Network is a service of the Office of Disability Employment Policy.
  • It provides free, confidential technical assistance about workplace accommodations, the American Disabilities Act (ADA), and related legislation.

NCDA's Internet sites for career planning

  • National Career Development Association has undertaken a time-consuming effort to collect, organize, curate, and publish online, a listing of free, current, and credible resources that are available on the Internet and are useful to career counselors, coaches, and specialists as they work with clients. 
  • There are resources for self assessment, general occupational information, industry and occupation specific information, education topics, employment trends, job search, special populations and videos.

National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability (NCWD) 

  • NCWD/Youth assists state and local workforce development systems to better serve all youth, including youth with disabilities and other disconnected youth.

O*NET Online Career exploration and job analysis 

  • O*NET OnLine has detailed descriptions of the world of work for use by job seekers, workforce development and HR professionals, students, researchers, and more. 
  • This site has three main areas:
    • Find Occupations - students can browse groups of similar occupations to explore careers.
    • Advanced Search - students can focus on occupations that use a specific tool or software 
    • Crosswalks - students can connect  to a wealth of O*NET data.

Road to Self-Sufficiency: A Guide to Entrepreneurship for Youth with Disabilities

  • This guide was developed to serve as a resource for organizations working with youth on career exploration and employment options.
  • It's also designed for and policy-makers who support youth programs through policy and practice.
  • The guide shows how entrepreneurship education can be implemented in program.
  • It also offers suggestions on how to introduce self-employment as an option for all youth, including youth with disabilities.

Occupational Outlook Handbook 

  • The Occupational Outlook Handbook is a nationally recognized source of career information.
  • It's designed to provide valuable assistance to individuals making decisions about their future work lives.
  • The Handbook is revised every two years.

Office of Disability Employment Policy 

  • The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) provides national leadership on disability employment policy.
  • It develops and influences the use of evidence-based disability employment policies and practices, builds collaborative partnerships, and delivers authoritative and credible data on employment of people with disabilities.

Ticket to Work 

  • The Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work program supports career development for people with disabilities who want to work.

Workforce Recruitment Program 

  • The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) is a recruitment and referral program managed in part by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy.
  • It connects federal and private-sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs

  • Numerous resources are available to help youth get a sense of their interest and skills as well as gain employment experience and learn about employment opportunities. 
  • You will want to carve out some time to explore not only the career section but also the other sections of this resource!
