Rose Hesselbrock holds a Master of Arts degree in Theology from Seattle University and was the recipient of the Leo Stanford Excellence in Lay Ministry award upon graduation. Rose is a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle where she serves as Lay Presider, Pastoral Council member and member of the Social Justice Commission. Deeply committed to advancing women’s roles in church leadership, Rose co-led the Synod listening sessions at St. Therese and is a member of the Strategic Planning team helping to develop the vision of a new community formed from the merger of St. Mary’s parish with St. Therese. Her favorite theologians are Elisabeth Schussler-Fiorenza’s, Elizabeth Johnson and Barbara Brown Taylor. Her favorite mystics are Teresa of Avila and Julian of Norwich and she has a deep affection and love for Phoebe, Prisca and many other women who helped advance Christianity in the early Church. She lives with her husband, Tom in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle.
