The Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (CEIE) is guided by the Ignatian commitment to religious literacy (General Congregation 34), in the joy of “envisaging and engendering a heart open to the whole world,” as Pope Francis writes in his 2020 Encyclical Fratelli Tutti.
CEIE provides opportunities for public learning, open to the whole world and rooted in Catholic identity. Today, CEIE offers Webinars, Workshops, Courses dedicated to Seeking Religious Literacy. In 2023, CEIE developed this course in partnership with the Parliament of the World’s Religions, and faculty colleagues who bring over 150 years of combined experience in the field. CEIE Webinars are under 90 minutes long, highlight an author and a topic, provide a moderator, and sometimes a panel. Explore present and past webinars now!
CEIE Workshops take place under a main theme that unfurls in a series of two to three offerings for each theme, or a 1:3 model of theme-to-series.
CEIE is poised to draw on the rich history of Ignation educational heritage for crafting this first, unique offering. Our first course is on Seeking Religious Literacy.
Formation in communication will, among its important goals, ensure critical knowledge of the rhetoric of this new culture, foster an appreciation of its aesthetic dimension, develop the skills required for teamwork and for the effective use of media and information technology….
