Seattle University is off to a good start in getting vaccinated for COVID-19. As of today, 35 percent of our campus community has registered their vaccinations. More than 65 percent of faculty and staff and nearly 29 percent of our students have reported they are vaccinated.

As announced last week, faculty and staff are required to be fully vaccinated by Sept. 6. Students attending SU this fall must also be vaccinated prior to arriving on campus.

Good News: Washington Approaches Key Metric for Reopening; King County Reaches Milestone

Governor Jay Inslee has said the state will fully reopen either June 30 or when 70 percent of people 16 years and older initiate COVID vaccinations. Currently at 67 percent, the state is nearing that key threshold. And the numbers are even better here in King County, with 70 percent of county residents having received the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or both doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. This means the county’s masking requirement will be lifted on June 29. King County is one of the most vaccinated counties in the country, Dr. Jeff Duchin, King County public health official, pointed out in The Seattle Times.

Seattle University is continuing to monitor federal, state and public health guidance and will continue to communicate any changes that may be coming to our campus COVID response policies.
