Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

- A community member developed symptoms on March 28, 2020 and tested positive. The community member has not been on campus since before March 9, 2020.
- A community member developed symptoms prior to March 16, 2020 and tested positive. The community member was last on campus March 12, 2020.
Our thoughts and well wishes are with these individuals as they are recovering.
Public Health – Seattle & King County recommends anyone who has had close contact with an individual confirmed to have COVID-19 should self-quarantine for 14 days after last contact with the individual. Seattle University will directly contact any community member who has had close contact with an individual confirmed to have COVID-19 in the 14-day time frame, as recommended by public health officials. In addition, Seattle University continues to regularly and thoroughly clean and disinfect buildings on campus, including all common and high-touch areas.
With increased testing in the community we can expect to see more cases of COVID-19 as community spread continues. Information about future confirmed cases among Seattle University students, faculty and staff will continue to be sent directly to affected campus members and case counts will be maintained on university’s COVID-19 website.
Social distancing remains our best defense against COVID-19. Community transmission has been occurring and everyone should assume that anyone they meet could have COVID-19. If you remain on campus or have contact with campus members, please promptly report to Public Safety if you develop symptoms consistent with COVID-19 even if testing has not been done or has not come back yet. Report to covid-19-report@seattleu.edu or 206-296-5990.
For more information, we encourage you to visit the university’s COVID-19 website, which is updated regularly and includes answers to frequently asked questions and links to helpful public health resources.
Sincerely,
Tara Hicks, ARNP
