Subject:  Updated COVID-19 Vaccination Policy to Address Booster Doses

The following information applies to all Seattle University students, faculty and staff:

Seattle University has amended the university’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy to state that all eligible, non-exempt students, faculty and staff are expected to receive authorized COVID-19 vaccine booster doses and to register those doses with the university by April 1, 2022.

The university made the decision to amend the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy to address booster doses based on the CDC’s updated guidance that individuals are only “up to date” with their COVID-19 vaccinations when they have “received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible.” This updated guidance reflects scientific data evaluated by the CDC that shows that COVID-19 vaccine boosters are safe and effective at preventing severe illness and hospitalization and counteracting the waning efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines over time.

All eligible, non-exempt university students, faculty and staff are therefore expected to receive an authorized COVID-19 vaccine booster dose and to register their dose with the university no later than April 1, 2022.
