Scholarship Information

  • The College of Education awards institutional aid at the time of admission.
    • Students who are awarded an institutional aid scholarship will see this reflected on their admission letter.
  • Endowed scholarship applications for admitted and current students are due in the Spring though ScholarshipUniverse
  • We encourage students to apply for external scholarships and grants using ScholarshipUniverse to maximize opportunities for funding. Deadlines vary, so start your search early.

College of Education Application Information

Graduate students can apply for all endowed scholarships and external scholarships and grants through ScholarshipUniverse. Students will be considered for any scholarship for which they meet the basic criteria and can receive multiple scholarships.

  • Students must be accepted or enrolled in a College of Education graduate program.
  • Endowed Scholarship Timeline:
    • Students apply in the Spring beginning May 1st. The scholarship application closes at 11:59 pm on May 31st. The review period begins shortly after that. Award notification will happen towards the end of June. 
  • External Scholarships and Grants Timeline:
    • Deadlines vary, so start your search early. 
  • For most endowed scholarships, applicants must demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA.
  • International students are not eligible for endowed scholarships but are eligible for SU Institutional Aid.

Requirements:

  • Acceptance into a College of Education program
  • File a FAFSA or WAFSA, if you are eligible
    • If you are ineligible for the FAFSA or WAFSA, you will not qualify for need-based scholarships but can be considered for merit-based scholarships
  • Complete the ScholarshipUniverse application
    • The application is always available. Accepted and enrolled students will be reminded of COE Scholarship deadlines via email.

In Scholarships

For the 2019-2020 academic year, the College of Education will award over $700,000 in gift aid.

The selection process follows Federal and State laws, as well as University policies, which protect students against discrimination based on the following legally protected characteristics: Race, Color, Creed, Religion, National Origin, Sex (including pregnancy and parenting status), Gender Identity and Expression, Sexual Orientation, Disability, Age, Veteran Status, Marital Status, and Genetic Information.
