Biography
Born and raised in Serbia, in former Yugoslavia, Aleksandra came to the U.S. through a cultural exchange program and lived with an American family for a year. She enjoyed her experience so much that she decided to continue her education in the U.S. After receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Washington, she spent ten years working at International and English Language Programs at the same university. She worked with students from more than 20 countries at different levels of English. In her classes, she strived to create a community where all students would feel safe sharing their experiences and beliefs. In addition to teaching, Aleksandra have also coordinated and managed different English language and culture programs and worked as an international recruiter. As a former international student and an immigrant, she is passionate about cultural exchange, helping others succeed in American classrooms, and connecting students to the local community.
