Treasury & Risk Management

Treasury and Risk Management has oversight of the University’s cash, endowment, debt, business insurance and enterprise risk.

• Cash – Forecasting incoming cash and upcoming expenses to maintain sufficient liquidity and invest excess cash balances until needed.
• Endowment – Supporting the Board of Trustee’s Investment Committee and ensuring that the endowment’s outside investment manager is performing per the Investment Committee’s expectations.
• Debt – Making certain that the University’s current debt obligations are being satisfied and maintaining the relationships with financing providers (e.g., bankers, the Washington Higher Education Facilities Authority, Standard and Poor’s ratings service, etc.)
• Business Insurance – Working with our primary broker as well as insurers to secure appropriate coverages for business risks.
• Enterprise Risk – Identifying and assessing risks and opportunities with leadership’s strategic plans and decision making in order to inform acceptable levels of risk taking.
