Testing

The GRE and GMAT testing requirements are now considered optional for anyone applying to a non-law graduate program. Two exceptions remain in place. A test will still be required if you have a bachelor's degree from a non-graded institution or you have earned the equivalent of a 3-year bachelor's degree overseas.

Choosing to include a GMAT or GRE score may make your application more competitive in some situations. Prospective students are invited to contact Graduate Admissions anytime at grad-admissions@seattleu.edu or 206-220-8010 to discuss this test-optional policy.

Testing agencies have worked to provide alternatives to site-based tests. The latest information is noted below and we will update as we learn more.

  • GRE
    • ETS offers the GRE General Test at home test in most areas except mainland China and Iran. Plans are currently being made to expand to mainland China and Iran. The GRE is a proctored online version of the test that is administered in a test user’s home. Additional information about this test option and updates on testing center closures, postponements, and rescheduling are available on the ETS website.
  • GMAT
    • GMAC offers an online proctored alternative to the GMAT exam. Additional information about this test option and updates on testing center closures, postponements, and rescheduling are available on the GMAC website.
