UPDATE FROM THE BORDER:
The Hope Border Institute, in recognition of the one year anniversary of the Migrant Protection Protocols, released their "Remain in Mexico" report - a note from their website:
Remain in Mexico represents a new level of assault on migrants, our binational communities and our country’s commitment to asylum. But it is also a piece with the long legacy of racism at the border and a national history of immigrant scapegoating. Both of these require a deep reckoning.
This situation report documents the real impacts of Remain in Mexico on migrants in Ciudad Juárez, just across the border from El Paso, TX.
Read the report here, and a story from America Magazine here.
THE GERMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH SYNOD:
The Amazonian Synod held this past fall was well-publicized, but did you know that the German Catholic Church began a two-year synod on December 1, 2019? As a world-wide faith, it is important to recognize how the Spirit is moving in different Catholic regions and how that may influence the Church overall.
