As ICTC's fall programs wrap up, we are grateful for your engagement and participation this quarter! Below you can find video links for the fall Catholic Heritage Series lecture and discussion panel.
We are thrilled to announce that Bishop McElroy of San Diego will be at SU in person on January 25 to open our winter quarter theme on Synodality and Spirituality (save-the-date below, registration will open in December). On October 10, Pope Francis officially launched the Vatican's two-year synod process, and he states: "Everything changes once we are capable of genuine encounters with [Jesus] and with one another, without formalism or pretense, but simply as we are." Read more here (NCR, 10/10/21). Synodality, the "art of encounter," will provide a framework for ICTC programs during winter quarter, with more event announcements coming in December.
Signs of the Times
November is a month of remembrance in the Catholic tradition, with Catholics celebrating All Saints Day on November 1 and All Souls Day (Día de Muertos) on November 2. We remember and pray for family, friends and those who have died unjustly. Also in November we celebrate Black Catholic History Month, Native American-Alaska Native Heritage Month, Diwali on November 4, and Veterans Day on November 11. The month concludes with Thanksgiving and the beginnings of Hanukah and Advent - more to come in the next newsletter!
