Any student serving as the primary researcher/principal investigator (PI) for a study involving human subjects must have a faculty or staff adviser actively engaged in the research project. As an adviser, faculty and staff members have a variety of responsibilities to the students and University in the process.
Beginning 1 July 2023, researchers must submit all new studies via the SU OneAegis system using your SU credentials. After students submit a protocol via OneAegis, it will be routed directly to the faculty/staff adviser, who must sign an attestation regarding your role and the protocol's accuracy and completeness. Then the protocol will come to the IRB for initial processing.
