A Virtual Private Network (VPN) creates a secure, encrypted connection between a remote Windows or Mac computer and the Seattle University internal network. It allows access to specific secure internal systems or data that is not accessible directly from the Internet. If you use shared drives (i.e. T Drive), Colleague, RDP to your desktop computer on campus, access servers on campus, access InformSU SSRS reports, or use the EMS desktop application, you will need to download and use the VPN. The Virtual Private Network is available for all Seattle University faculty, staff, and select vendors. Student use of VPN is limited to specific courses and must be approved by the Risk and Cybersecurity Director. Redhawk Labs is the best alternative for VPN. Please contact the Service Desk at servicedesk@seattleu.edu to request access.
Free to use on business or personal workstations by current Seattle University Faculty and Staff. This software requires admin rights to be installed on a university-owned computer. If you do not have admin rights, please email the Service Desk and request a virtual appointment for a technician to assist you remotely. You will be prompted to enroll in MFA when you download the GlobalProtect application. Please follow the prompts. You will be required to re-authenticate via MFA every 7 days when using the VPN.
The VPN software, the GlobalProtect client, is supported on Windows 7 or later and Apple Mac OS 10.10 or later. It is not currently supported on mobile devices. It is very important to follow the step-by-step instructions in the Software Setup Guide when installing the VPN software on your computer.
