Educator of the Year

Becky Cobb, clinical coordinator of the Couples and Family Therapy Program and assistant clinical professor at the School of Theology and Ministry, was selected as a recipient of the Washington Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (WAMFT) 2016 Educator of the Year Award. 

The award honors a faculty member who demonstrates creative and innovative teaching abilities, fosters and maintains strong relationships with students and has published in the field of marriage and family therapy. Nominations are accepted only from students. 

Cobb is known for her creativity and for acknowledging the creativity and gifts in her students. Through her publications and teaching, she inspires students to be advocates for ethical principles and justice. 

“As a mentor, Dr. Cobb has modeled possibilities beyond what I once found impossible to achieve,” wrote one of her students when nominating her for the award. “(She) connects students to ‘real life’ examples of what it is to be a therapist. “Dr. Cobb has been a tremendous support in my life and an invaluable source of inspiration for me as a student and a budding therapist.”
