Seattle University Honored for Transfer Student Program

The national honor society Phi Theta Kappa has recognized Seattle University among four-year institutions for their work in attracting and supporting community college transfer students. Seattle U was the only university in the Pacific Northwest and one of only two on the West Coast to be included in the 2017 “Transfer Honor Roll.”

Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest, largest and most prestigious honor society for students pursuing two-year degrees. Phi Theta Kappa recognized 65 colleges and universities this year.

Honor Roll selection was based on scores earned on the Transfer Honor Roll application. Scores were determined based on institutional partnerships, community college collaboration, pre- and post-transfer institutional support, data tracking and transfer pathway innovations.

Community college students often face more challenges than others when it comes to being accepted to four-year institutions as well as completing their undergraduate degrees. Universities that understand the diversity and unique qualities of transfer students do a better job of recruiting this pool of talent and helping them to succeed.
