Wall Street Journal Ranks Seattle U #1 Private University In Northwest

Seattle University is among the best colleges and universities in the nation for producing successful graduates, encouraging student engagement and creating an optimal learning environment, according to The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings 2018. At #2 in the Northwest overall, Seattle U is the top-ranked private university in the Northwest and #127 overall in the nation.

 The ranking highlights the top 500 institutions in the U.S. The methodology takes into account four key areas: college resources, student engagement, outcomes and learning environment, placing most of its weight on outcomes—graduation rate, value added to graduate salary, value added to loan default and academic reputation.

According to the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Ed, the ranking includes clear indicators designed to answer the questions that matter most to students and their families when making one of the most important decisions of their lives—who to trust with their education. Questions include: Does the college have sufficient resources to teach me properly? Will I be engaged and challenged by my teacher and classmates? Does the college have a good academic reputation? What type of campus community is there? How likely am I to graduate, pay off my loans and get a good job?

The ranking includes the results of the THE U.S. Student Survey, which examines a range of key issues including students’ engagement with their studies, their interaction with professors and satisfaction with their educational experience overall.
