She will begin at SU April 1. “Hilary will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role,” wrote Dullea. She is currently serving as director of the Career Center at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to that, she was director of Career Services at John Carroll University, a sister Jesuit university. Flanagan has a master’s degree in student development in higher education from the University of Maine, and a bachelor’s degree in government from the United States Coast Guard Academy. “The Seattle University community has been tremendously welcoming, and I am thrilled to be able to join a university where students, faculty and staff are drawn to and committed to the pursuit of contributing their combined talents towards creating a just and humane world,” Flanagan shared. “There is a recognition that career development plays an integral part of professional and personal formation seamlessly in conjunction with academic and experiential learning. Being a part of this enthusiastic and talented Career Services team is an amazing opportunity, and I look forward to connecting with you all in the weeks ahead.” In his announcement, Dullea thanked “Joelle Pretty who has provided strong leadership and support for our Career Services department as the Interim Director” and “the members of the Search Committee, including co-chairs Charles Lawrence and Michelle Clements, for their efforts in bringing this process to a successful conclusion.”
