Big Issues and Bold Ideas

Crosscut Festival is coming back to Seattle University on May 3 and 4. Like last year, the Festival will feature Seattle U, local, regional and national newsmakers and headliners discussing the issues that matter most–including your favorite Seattle rapper and wide receiver.

The festival will feature tracks devoted to five topics: race and social justice, politics, business, science and environment, and headliners. Global superstar and Seattle’s own Macklemore will be on campus along with Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin, discussing activism and fame. In addition, hear from Obama Administration advisor Valerie Jarrett, Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, Washington Post reporter Philip Rucker,  former New Jersey Governor and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christine Todd Whitman, civil rights activist and community organizer DeRay Mckesson, and many, many more.

Not only will you hear from national and local luminaries, but Seattle U faculty, staff and alumni will be featured. Professor Connie Anthony, Professor Ruchika Tulshyan, Catherine Hinrichsen, and Grammy-nominated singer and alumna Hollis Hong Wear, ‘10 will all participate in panel discussions throughout the weekend.

In addition to the main programming, the festival will include food trucks and coffee carts, a special student networking lunch, an artwalk with featured local artist Markel Uriu and plenty of other interactive involvement.
