People of SUSeattle U alum and former board member named new United Way of King County president and CEONo Author ProvidedSeptember 10, 2019Invalid ImageNo Image Credit ProvidedNo Caption ProvidedGordon McHenry, Jr., '79, is a lawyer and was named Alumnus of the Year in 2013.After a national search, United Way of King County has named its next president and CEO: Gordon McHenry, Jr. A powerful advocate for social and economic equity, he currently heads Solid Ground, a Seattle-area nonprofit that works to dismantle poverty. At United Way he will succeed Jon Fine, the organization's leader for nineteen years and an architect of bold initiatives to address the region's most acute social issues. McHenry received a bachelor's degee in political science at Seattle U in 1979 and his law degree at Georgetown University. He was named Alumnus of the Year in 2013. He served on the Seattle U Board of Trustees 2002-2013 and he was a member and chair of the Board of Regents and a member of the Alumni Board of Governors.
