This coming Saturday, Aug. 24, the CSI project will take a big step forward with the installation of the project tower crane. The crane will rise 230 feet above campus and its jib, or arm, will extend 246 feet. The crane counterweights weigh 120,100 pounds.Assembling something this large will require a significant closure in central campus this weekend. Two mobile cranes will be on site to erect the tower crane; they will arrive at 5 a.m. on Saturday.Beginning 5 a.m. on Saturday the following areas will be closed to all vehicle and foot traffic:
If the installation goes smoothly and the weather cooperates, most areas will reopen at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sullivan Hall will be closed for the entire weekend due to its proximity to the crane. For more information or questions, please contact:Ranleigh Starling, Senior Project Manager for CSI, at starlinr@seattleu.eduLara Branigan, Director of Design + Construction, at branigal@seattleu.edu
