Below is information about how Seattle U, both on and off campus, is showing its commitment to civic engagement and leadership. Seattle University is proud to be a supporter of and active participant in the Washington State Debate Coalition (WSDC). Continuing its tradition of hosting debates of statewide consequence, the WSDC will broadcast statewide a gubernatorial debate between Governor Jay Inslee and Sheriff Loren Culp on October 7. Additionally, candidates for Lieutenant Governor, State Senator Marko Liias and US Rep. Denny Heck, will debate October 22 via a live web stream. In 2016, SU hosted the first-ever debate of the WSDC in Pigott Auditorium. You can relive that debate here. Student Government of Seattle University (SGSU) will be hosting a virtual table on September 23, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m., to educate students about voter registration and provide links for students to register during the event. Check out SGSU’s voter registration page for more details. On September 29, SGSU is planning a full day voter registration social media campaign. Details will be available soon. On October 5, SGSU, Washington Bus and Seattle Central College will host a local candidates forum. This link will be regularly updated with details about the forum.
