Faculty Receive Provost’s Awards

Mathew Isaac, PhD, professor of marketing at Albers, received the award for Excellence in Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors.

“Professor Mathew Isaac seeks to build a reputation as a world-class behavioral researcher who strives to answer questions that are not only theoretically interesting to the field of consumer psychology but also practically relevant to marketers and public policy makers alike,” says Martin.

Since joining the Albers School of Business and Economics in 2011, Isaac has co-authored 22 peer-reviewed articles, published in journals including the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing and Journal of Consumer Psychology and served on five editorial review boards. He has presented at more than 50 academic conferences within his discipline, including conferences organized by the Association of Consumer Research, the Society of Consumer Psychology, Marketing Science and the Society for Judgement and Decision Making. Additionally, Isaac’s research has been mentioned in more than 100 media outlets. 

Brooke Coleman, PhD, professor of law and co-associate dean for research and faculty development in the School of Law, received the Excellence in Teaching award.

“Professor Coleman’s teaching philosophy centers on empowering her students with the tools they need to be effective advocates by providing an inspiring, yet pragmatic, legal education,” says Martin.

Coleman’s student evaluations consistently demonstrate her success in the classroom and she has consistently been elected as the Outstanding Faculty Member by students.  In 2015, she was selected as the William C. Oltman Professor for Teaching Excellence.  

Serena Cosgrove, PhD, associate professor of International Studies in Arts & Sciences, director of Latin American Studies and faculty coordinator of the Central America Initiative, received the Outstanding Service award.

Cosgrove has served as faculty coordinator of the Central America Initiative since 2014, the faculty Fulbright program advisor from 2011-2019 and was selected as the director of the Latin American Studies Program beginning in 2018. Cosgrove also serves as a member of the editorial committee and faculty editor of the Seattle University Undergraduate Research Journal (SUURJ), the College of Global Affairs Committee, the Common Text Selection Committee and the College Curriculum Committee.

“Cosgrove is a valued member of the International Studies Program, for which she performs all administrative, advising, assessment and committee work asked of her,” says Martin. “She is also the program’s leader in recruitment and retention efforts, organizing events for current and prospective students.”
