Peñalver started with a video message of congratulations and thanks. Washington Governor Jay Inslee got last week’s inauguration ceremony of President Eduardo M. Peñalver started with a video message of congratulations and thanks. The Governor began his remarks by stating, “I’d like to congratulate Eduardo Peñalver on his new role as president of Seattle University.” He went on to welcome Peñalver back to the Puget Sound region, alluding to his upbringing in Puyallup, as well as making sure the audience was aware of the new president’s love for the Seattle Mariners. Inslee also made a point to thank President Emeritus Stephen V. Sundborg, S.J., the 21st president of Seattle University, for his consequential leadership over the past 24 years. The Governor also succinctly described a Seattle University education this way: “Seattle University’s focus on sustainability, racial justice and economic inequality produces graduates that are ready to engage in the most difficult problems of our era.” While ending his greeting Gov.
