Kumhee Ro, assistant professor in the College of Nursing, has been selected to co-lead the Diversity Committee of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF). In this role, Ro will advise and engage with academic leadership on resources in support of NONPF’s goal to champion a culture of diversity and inclusivity across all nurse practitioner education programs.
Much of Ro’s work and research addresses the need to foster diversity, equity and inclusion among nursing faculty. Among other roles, she is involved in leading the national Jesuit network for faculty of color through the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
Just over 15 percent of full-time faculty members in nursing education are from underrepresented backgrounds, the American Association of College Nursing shared in 2017.
