Albers’ ‘Project Pivot’ seeks to help recent employment losses

Heard about the recent tech layoffs in the Seattle area impacting thousands? Well, the Albers School of Business and Economics is doing something about it.  

Dubbed “Project Pivot,” Albers is supporting current and prospective graduate students who recently lost their tech job with up to $15,000 in scholarship assistance. As the name suggests, Albers Dean Joseph Phillips believes a graduate education at Seattle University can help these recently unemployed professionals find a new professional pathway.  

“The tech sector is a critical part of our regional economy and it’s incumbent on us to support the firms and employees in that industry,” explains Phillips. “Being laid off is a painful experience, but retooling can change the trajectory of one’s career and our graduate business programs can help with that.”  

Eligible current Albers students can receive up to $15K in total scholarship assistance, depending on their remaining credits to degree completion, if enrolled full-time. Total scholarship assistance includes current scholarship awards and the amount of additional funding is determined on a case-by-case basis. New students must enroll full-time in Albers’ Professional MBA, Master’s in Finance, Master’s in Accounting & Analytics or Master’s in Business Analytics programs in either in winter quarter or spring quarter 2023. The traditional GMAT/GRE entrance exam requirement as well as application fees have been waived.

The deadline to apply for winter quarter is December 9, 2022, while the deadline to apply for spring quarter is March 10, 2023.
