Center for Student Involvement Jumps into the New Academic Year

In the week before the start of the fall academic term, the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) at Seattle University kicked off the new academic year with CSI Launch, a mandatory training for the organizations that are represented at CSI.

Student Government of Seattle University (SGSU), Student Events and Activities (SEAC), Redzone, Graduate Student Council (GSC)and RedhawkTHON all joined together in preparation for the upcoming year. The CSI staff put together a wonderful morning of lectures, discussions, games and more to allow the organizations to come together before the school year starts. During training, CSI gave the organizations a time to not just work individually, but to also come together and get to know one another.

This year, CSI is operating around the theme of love. The idea behind this theme is to encourage not just other students to come into the office and get involved, but to provide the space for the organizations within CSI to get to know one another and create a more collaborative environment. One thing that training was greatly focused on was the idea of working together to reach common goals. Although every organization serves a different purpose, at the end of the day, we are all working toward the united goal of making SU a better place. CSI wouldn’t be alive without the support of the students in these organizations working so hard every day to ensure representation and that all students have a voice on campus.

“The CSI launch, ‘Fall in Love with CSI,’ was an awesome kick-off for our year with our student organizations and leaders in the Center for Student Involvement,” says Rachel Leong, assistant director of events and traditions. “The energy, the excitement, the willingness to collaborate and create an amazing year for the SU student body gave me a lot of hope for this year.”

For myself, this will be my second year at CSI, working alongside all the amazing student leaders and staff. I’m really looking forward to an inclusive year where CSI organizations work together in collaboration to make this year a highlight for our campus community. If you haven’t already guessed it, it’s going to be an amazing year!
