Campus Community / People of SUQuadstock is Back!Written by Sofia MartiMay 16, 2022No Image Credit ProvidedNo Caption ProvidedAnnual live music and arts festival returns to campus—and in person—after long hiatus. At a university with events and programs steeped in tradition, many would argue that one of our best campus traditions yet is Quadstock. Organized by Student Events and Activities Council (SEAC), this annual live concert is a staple of spring quarter and returns on Saturday, May 21, in the Quad. Due to restrictions brought on by COVID, SEAC wasn’t able to host the event in person for the past three years. This year the event is back and in person! Tickets are $5 and available now at the ConnectSU Hub Resource desk on the first floor of the Student Center. To get more insight as to what the event itself will look like, I spoke with Madison Lane, a recent graduate who holds the position of Quadstock co-chair on the SEAC council. While most students are coming for the live music, there will be other ongoing activities throughout the day. For instance, not only has Lane ordered a photo backdrop where students will be able to snap memories with their friends, but there will also be two food trucks onsite offering goodies to students throughout the concert, along with water stations and a handwashing area to ensure health protocols are followed. “I want Quadstock to be an opportunity for students to go have fun and destress before finals,” says Lane. This year’s theme is “Kickstart to Summer,” highlighted in the bright retro colors of the event logo. On stage joining headliners Misterwives is the Viretta Saints (SU’s Battle of the Bands winner), Colene and Phoebe (Battle of the Bands winner) and opener Abhi the Nomad. Quadstock is the latest in a return to SEAC-hosted events that are really enriching the student experience and fostering connections that were limited during the height of COVID. The organization is really pushing to bring back both old and new traditions to restore that sense of community and Quadstock is right up there on the list of events to not be missed! Make sure to follow SEAC on social (@seac_seattleu) and ConnectSU to keep up with any Quadstock updates.
