Seattle University is well represented in the 2022-2023 undergraduate rankings released by U.S. News & World Report in its “Best Colleges” guide. Three Seattle University colleges rank highly and above many of its peers nationally, specifically in areas of business, nursing, computer science and engineering. Overall, Seattle University ranks as the 3rd best national university in Washington. “Seattle University is delivering excellent education, across disciplines, for all our students. U.S. News & World Report recognizes the SU is a leader in providing opportunities for students to excel in rapidly growing, high-demand majors such as business, nursing, computer science and engineering,” says SU President Eduardo Peñalver. “These programs, and many others, provide students with excellent faculty, internships and hands-on learning opportunities and exposure to diverse voices and opportunities.” Among the findings: The Albers School of Business and Economics ranks as the 4th best undergraduate business college in Washington and within the top three in the state in the specialty areas of analytics (#1), finance (#2) and accounting (#3). The College of Nursing ranks as the 4th best nursing college in Washington. The university’s fastest growing college, the College of Science and Engineering, ranks 2nd in Washington among engineering departments not offering doctorates. In computer science, SU ranks 3rd in the state. U.S. News & World Report classifies schools in several overall rankings—national universities (392 schools), national liberal arts colleges (223 schools), national public universities (209 schools), public liberal arts colleges (24 schools) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (78 schools). The 2022-23 ranking variables were impacted by the following categories—outcomes, faculty resources, reputational ratings, financial resources, student excellence and alumni giving.
