Two SU Alums Among New Judicial Nominees

On July 13, President Joe Biden released his latest round of federal judicial nominees with two Seattle University alums among his picks.

Undergraduate alum Kymberly Evanson, ’99, and School of Law grad Jamal Whitehead, ’07 JD, are nominees for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

In the announcement from the White House, the nominees to the federal bench were lauded for being “extraordinarily qualified, experienced and devoted to the rule of law and our Constitution.”

Kymberly Evanson earned her bachelor’s degree from SU in 1999 and her JD from Georgetown University. Currently, she is a partner at Pacifica Law Group in Seattle. From 2009-2011 Evanson was an associate attorney at K&L Gates in Seattle and from 2007-2008 served as a law clerk for Judge Emmet Sullivan on the United States District Court for the District of  Columbia.

Jamal Whitehead earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and his JD from SU’s School of Law in 2007. Currently, Whitehead is a shareholder at Schroeter Goldmark & Bender in Seattle. From 2014 to 2016, he was an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington. From 2010 to 2014, Whitehead was a Senior Trial Attorney in the Seattle Field Office of the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and before that worked as an associate at Garvey Schubert Barer (now Foster Garvey) in Seattle. In 2015, Whitehead received an award from the law school’s Black Law Student Association.
